September is prostate cancer awareness month. This is the time to become aware of the alarming stats of prostate cancer, including projected 2015 numbers.
Fortunately, medical advancements and overall knowledge have increased survival rates of prostate cancer. It can be a very treatable cancer if detected early. The American Urological Association recommend getting PSA or DRE screenings at the age of 40-50. There’s not a lot of evidence to indicate getting examined before that age decreases the risk of prostate cancer. Once you hit 40, it is recommended you meet with your doctor or schedule an appointment with a urologist.
Spread the word and be smart about your health. Don’t delay getting checked, and visit our prostate cancer page to learn more about symptoms and treatment.
